Born and bred in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Santiago Garcia has been at the forefront of an established wave of artists supplying the deep house and melodic techno traditions since their early inception. Over the course of his esteemed twenty-year career, the Argentinian has nurtured a remarkably intelligent, deliciously challenging sound that finds equal comfort within the international festival and underground, after-hours communities – a multi-faceted sound palette which has seen him entertain crowds from behind some of the most revered DJ booths in the world. Enjoying inherent artistic freedom afforded by only an elite few, and with the backing of some of the most sought-after labels in the industry, Garcia’s prolific output is tinged with dynamic, indie sensibilities and evokes feelings of self-reflection and purity; bold, expressive and invariably original.
Now residing in Ibiza, Santiago has become a staple figure on the White Isle, sharing his rich strain of emotionally- driven sounds with audiences at Pacha, Amnesia and Ushuaïa, as well as further afield at Barcelona’s Brunch In The Park, New York’s legendary Brooklyn Mirage and Zamna Tulum to name just a few. Catching the attention of distinguished Brooklyn-based duo Bedouin, he has been welcomed into their fabled Saga event series as a resident since 2018, and as such, has released a slew of offerings for their Human By Default imprint, including the 2020 collaborative single Bay Of Skaill.
Santiago’s unique balance of influences has made for a compelling, genre-spanning signature sound that’s founded on conceptual artistry and profound theoretical knowledge, hitting the sweet spot between underground club culture and at-home listening. In 2018 he was tapped by Innervisions’ sub label Exit Strategy for his Serenata EP; a three-track deep house gem laced with tribal tones and crisp percussion that, additionally, marked his first cooperative effort with BLOND:ISH on the cut Away From Here. Receiving global acclaim from industry specialists and fans alike, he was subsequently welcomed back by the label crew to release on their main Innervisions platform the following year for his double-release On Two Strangers alongside Thomas Gandey, and once again in 2021 with the original hit Paradiso. With further productions chartered on the likes of Watergate, TAU and Renaissance – including an invaluable contribution to Hernan Cattaneo’s iconic 2012 The Master Series on the esteemed British imprint – it is no wonder Santiago’s music has made its way into the touring playlists of dance music’s elite, with continued support from Solomun, Tale of Us, Black Coffee, the Keinemusik crew, Âme and Dixon to name a select few.
Having well and truly established his tastemaker status within the industry, and with a renewed desire to produce with unbridled creativity, the future is looking particularly bright for Garcia. Looking forwards to a exciting New Year ahead, the Argentinian will be further exploring his indie roots and their unique position within a techno framework as he readies himself to present some of his best work to date within a forthcoming full-length studio album. A project that has filled him with inspiration and a renewed hunger for music in all its aspects, the illustrious artist looks set to leave his indelible mark on dance music over the months and years to come with his uniquely nuanced, emotionally charged sound palette and unrivalled creative vision.
